Day 1: Today you depart for Portland, Maine (motor coach departures are available from Rhode Island, Boston, and Southern New Hampshire). On the way north stops will be made to visit several of the light houses along the Maine Coast. In the afternoon you will arrive in Portland, Maine, where a tour of this historic city will be given. You will certainly be inspired by the breathtaking views from the bluff. For those arriving by air you need to be at the Portland Jetport no later than 4:30 pm. Tonight you'll enjoy a buffet dinner in Portland before boarding the Scotia Prince for an overnight crossing to Nova Scotia. All cabins have two lower beds and private bathrooms. (If you are traveling as a single, the single cabins on this ship do not have private facilities in each cabin.) Dinner included. Day 2: Awake this morning in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Before departing the Scotia Prince you are welcome to partake of the breakfast buffet. After clearing customs, a tour of Nova Scotia begins along the scenic Evangeline Trail. This road is rich in history that extends back to the very beginnings of Canada. The first stop will be at Church Point where you will find St. Mary's Church, the tallest and largest wooden church in North America. The next stop is Fort Anne, where you will learn about life in the 1700's. Then it is on to Grand Pre National Park to learn the story of how the British deported the Acadian people to the lower colonies. This is where Longfellow's story of Evangeline takes place. Your next two nights will be on Oak Island, Nova Scotia where you will have use of all of the facilities of this fabulous resort. This island is picturesque and has interesting stories of buried treasure that your tour director will share with you. Breakfast and Dinner included. Day 3: This morning after breakfast is a tour Halifax. You will see such sights as The Citadel, one of Canada's most historic
sites, the Old Clock Tower, the waterfront, and the Museum of the Atlantic. This afternoon, enjoy some free time shopping, take
a leisurely stroll through the gardens, visit the farmer’s market and enjoy the city. Later you will travel to Peggy's Cove where
hopefully, you will enjoy a beautiful sunset along the rocky shore. For those who prefer spending time at the spa, arrangements will be made to have spa treatments and dinner at the hotel. Breakfast and Dinner included. Day 4: Start the day with a drive along the Eastern shoreline, passing through quaint fishing villages with Indian names
such as ECUM SECUM and MUSQUODOBOIT. On this day you will get a feel for the Nova Scotia way of life and sense of humor. This afternoon you have the opportunity to visit the Alexander Graham Bell Museum, with it’s extensive exhibits on aviation, marine engineering, and medical science. Here you’ll learn of Mr. Bell's many inventions other than the telephone. Tonight will be spent in the Sydney area. Breakfast and Dinner included. Day 5: Journey across the spectacular Cabbot Trail, with views of the dramatic scenery below. Everyone is encouraged to bring a camera to take pictures of the colorful villages and coastal scenery. Frequent stops will be made so that you can walk on the cliffs. Tonight will be spent at the end of the Canso Causeway. Breakfast and Dinner included. Day 6: After breakfast, travel a short distance to Pictou where you'll cross the Confederation Bridge to Prince Edward Island.
Once on the island it is only a short ride to Charlottetown, the island’s capital. As you travel to Charlottetown you cannot help notice the miles and miles of rich fertile potato fields. This afternoon includes a lobster lunch near the beach with music
entertainment and all of the fixings. This is sure to be one of the highlights of your trip. Breakfast and Lobster lunch are included. Day 7: Today a local guide joins the group to explain the sites of the island from a native’s perspective. You will see Green Gables, where Lucy Maude Montgomery grew up and was inspired to write "Anne of Green Gables". You will see the famous beaches of Cavandish National Park, the Gardens of Malpeque, and the scenic fishing villages along the coast. Tonight, visit the Confederation Center for the Arts for a night of theater. (When the Confederation Center for the Arts is closed there will be no substitute.) Breakfast and Dinner included. Day 8: Today the journey crosses back to New Brunswick where your first stop will be Le Pays de la Sagouine – Bouctouche. The island where Acadians celebrate - created from international renowned Acadian novelist, playwright and author, Antonine Maillet, who
invented the characters that live in this authentic Acadian village. Enter the fictional world of la Sagouine and leave with a true
appreciation of the Acadian joie de vivre (joy of life)! A costumed interpreteur will guide you through the village. Today a fantasic lunch is prepared for you featuring the food of Acadia.
In the afternoon you will visit The Olivier Soapery Canada's Soap

to walk through the doors to learn the history, evolution and the authentic techniques in the art of soap crafting. Discover the

the Soap Boutique which offers over 140 ecological, biodegradable, entirely natural and homeopathic products. Late this afternoon, continue on to St John where you will overnight. Breakfast and lunch included. Day 9: This morning the journey back to the United States begins. The first stop of the day will be the International Peace Park at
Campobello Island. You will find why Roosevelt loved this island. The Roosevelt homestead provides insight into who this man
was and why he became such a great leader. Tonight, overnight in the Holiday Inn Bangor. Breakfast and Dinner included. Day 10: Return to New England in the early evening; return flights are available out of Portland, Manchester, or Boston. Breakfast included. |
